My Current Script
I’m really happy with the current script I am writing. It’s about a man who kills four people because he was driving while intoxicated. The man is charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter. The story takes place after he is convicted but before he is sentenced. It really shows how this one man effected so many people by drunk driving. I really wanted to write a story about drunk driving, because I feel film and TV haven’t really showed the reality of drunk driving. Drunk driving effects so many people, killing over 10,000 people in 2010. One in three people will be involved in a alcohol-related car crash in their lifetime. Drunk driving and alcohol-related accidents effect almost everyone. Even though drunk driving effects many people, some people still chose to drive while intoxicated. It’s absolutely absurd the fact that people will drive while intoxicated knowing they have a great chance of injuring someone, or even killing multiple people.The most absurd part of intoxicated drivers killing innocent victims is that, depending on the state, the criminal could only get a a few months in jail, instead of the manslaughter charge which sentences the criminal to 25 years. Absurd, right? You probably didn’t even know that. It’s unlawful to say someone who was driving drunk and murdered a person/people was an involuntary action. The person knowingly drank alcohol and decided to drive a vehicle. Shame on them. That sounds like manslaughter to me, not involuntary manslaughter. Shame on the government, too, for allowing these scumbag murders to walk in and out of jail for murdering a human being. Wasn’t our country based on liberty, freedom, and the pursuit of happiness? Not bullshit, crime, and the pursuit of unlawfulness. Fact: North Dakota is the only state where a person convicted of involuntary manslaughter can go to jail for life. Maryland on the other hand has the criminal in and out of jail before he can put an orange jumpsuit on. That is almost more insane than someone driving a car while intoxicated. We need to change this. Yes WE, because one person can start a movement, but they can’t finish it. We need to write to our congressmen and senators to let them know we the people are done allowing murders go to jail for only a few months and years. They have committed manslaughter, not involuntary. We the people can longer sit and watch these criminals not get the punishment they deserve. Hopefully my script will turn into a movie one day, and people will finally realize drunk drivers are murders. I know it’s just a script, but I could really show the US government the reality of their laws. Change can happen, people just need to speak their minds. Voice your opinion! You never know what you as one person can do to change the nation, even the entire world.
